Sebastopol College is affiliated with the Victorian Secondary Schools Sports Association (VSSSA); which is an intrastate sports program for Victorian Government secondary school students.

Sebastopol College is placed in the Western Zone, which incorporates schools in the Ballarat, Geelong, South West, Wimmera, and the Northern Metropolitan districts.

The Ballarat Secondary Schools Sports Association (BSSSA) includes Ballarat Secondary College, Mt.Clear, Ballarat High School, Beaufort, Daylesford and Sebastopol.

The VSSSA conducts summer (term 1), winter (term 2) and term 3 sport for years 7 & 8, intermediates (year 9 & 10), and senior students (years 11 & 12). Season sports are played on designated school days for each year level during the term; with preliminary rounds for the Ballarat district schools being contested in Ballarat. The winning school in each year level advances to the Zone final that is played in either Geelong or Ballarat.

Teams from Sebastopol College have been very successful in winning the Western Zone final, and advancing to the Victorian State finals played at various venues in Melbourne. In recent years, Sebastopol College volleyball, cricket, badminton soccer and basketball teams have competed in the Victorian State finals with a mixture of success.

Apart from team sport, the VSSSA conducts athletics, cross country and swimming carnivals, with the BSSSA conducting the preliminary individual and relay selections during term 1 & 2. The selected students will represent the BSSSA and their college in the Zone and State finals.
