TOTAL GIRLS SOCCER

» Back

Sebastopol College entered a girls soccer team in the Total Girls Soccer tournament held Ballarat Grammar school over the weekend.

The girls played against seven other teams in the C grade division. Out of these teams Sebastopol College were only the second school entered as all the other teams were from district and metropolitan soccer clubs. Our girls were mostly year 7s, and had not played soccer at a tournament level before. These girls however trained lunchtimes with Phil Tong and Peter Luke over the past five weeks.

During their first four games on Saturday, the girls conceded only five goals, but they gained confidence and momentum with each game.

On Sunday, they played against the two top teams to finish the competition. The girls were ecstatic to finish - one all with North United, and their last game was against our neighbours; Sebastopol Vikings. This game was certainly a climax for all Sebastopol supporters as the game developed into an evenly contested game; with a number of College girls playing for Sebastopol Vikings. The results were in favour of Vikings with a 3–2 win.

Sebastopol Vikings were named the winners of the girls under 14 C grade competition.

Our team: Jessica Conroy, Breanna Baldwin , Erin Lauder, Amanda Collins, Jessica Burns, Sarah Luke, Sarah lauder, Claire Blower and Erica Thom. Jo Collins (abs)
