SEBASTOPOL COLLEGE CADET UNIT

31 Battalion, Victorian AAC Brigade

Australian Army Cadets

Courage, Initiative, Teamwork

The Army Cadet Unit has an important role in the College’s image, and has had a significant role in the College’s history.  The Cadets’ commitment is second to none.

Sebastopol College provides the shrine guard each year for the Ballarat Vietnam Veterans’ Day parade, as well as parading in Ballarat on ANZAC Day and other ceremonial occasions.  The Cadet Unit provides students at Sebastopol College with an unsurpassed opportunity to lead and achieve.

The Cadet Unit has an exciting program, from the recruit camp at the beginning of the year at Blackwood through other challenging and enjoyable bivouacs to our Annual Camp in September.

Training each Monday night includes First Aid, signals, navigation, drill and field engineering, in addition to the camps and frequent ceremonial parades.  Other camps and courses come up from time to time for interested members of the Unit, such as specialist training, promotion courses, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Adventure Training Award, eagerly coveted by all senior cadets.
