College Structure

Sebastopol College is structured into a middle school (years 7 to 9) and senior school (years 10 to 12). Both the middle school and senior school have key personnel who work directly with students to address their learning and social needs. This structure recognises that as young people progress through the college different types of tuition. care and guidance are required.

"A diverse and challenging curriculum provides for the
special needs of students at all levels of learning".

MIDDLE SCHOOL YEARS 7 - 9

ENGAGEMENT AND CHALLENGE
Sebastopol College has been at the forefront in developing teaching and learning strategies for students in these crucial years. Utilising significant research, the College is committed to "essential outcomes" for students by the completion of Year 9. These "essential outcomes" relate to levels of performance in literacy, numeracy, information communication technology skills, information literacy, key competencies, enrichment, social competencies and leadership skills.

Students in the Middle School access a rich curriculum which addresses the needs for those who require challenge and those who need additional learning access. Specific programs such as "Bright Futures" support accelerated learning for students, whilst individual learning styles are acknowledged and incorporated into teaching practice in these years. The development of sound study habits and strategies is integrated into the Year 7 program. Students in Year 8 consolidate this sound foundation of core skills, accessing programs to further develop their thinking skills and ability to problem solve.

SENIOR SCHOOL YEARS 10 - 12

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT,  SUCCESSFUL PATHWAYS
Sebastopol College's Senior School offers an exciting range of learning opportunities for its students within a supportive structured environment. The College emphasis is on developing independent learners who are well prepared to cope with future challenges and the world beyond school.

Quality academic performance, together with initiative and a strong work ethic, underpins a focus on individual achievement in the Senior School.

All students are counselled by qualified staff in identifying a learning program to suit their specific needs and aspirations. This program is regularly monitored and evaluated to ensure student program needs are appropriate.
